Some Positive News For A Change…

Despite the belief that we still might be a ways before this economic recession can be said to have bottomed out, there have been some positive headlines over the past few weeks which brought us some optimism. A couple we highlighted in our “News” section recently, which included word that Northeast Utilities has moved their headquarters into Hartford (which will help raise their profile with legislators and remind policymakers about how every decision they make impacts jobs) and there was also news that a few pockets of hiring “are emerging in industries such as accounting, information technology and restaurants” according to new government data. We also saw headlines last week that AT&T was holding job fairs in New Haven and Norwalk to supplant their emerging wireless and advanced television businesses. All these developments seem to mirror our principles that innovation and investment can be the key to producing more jobs for Connecticut residents and help make the region a more attractive business environment. Let’s hope these small signs of optimism that the economy could be getting better will continue in the months ahead…
