HBJ: Employers face $40 per job fee hike

NPR: Loss of solar jobs has Mass. rethinking state aid

From NPR:  “Hundreds of employees of a solar panel factory in Massachusetts are looking for new jobs after the company announced that it’s moving the plant to China.  Three years ago, Massachusetts wooed Evergreen Solar to locate in a former Army base in Devens that had been converted into an office park, hoping it would help boost the state’s reputation as a hub for green industry. Lincoln Chafee, serving as Chairman of the Rhode Island Development Corp (RI EDC), announced to its Board of Directors that Phoenix Medical Technologies will receive $100,000 tax credit incentive for business development of their high-tech therapeutic shoe insole development and manufacturing business in Rhode Island.
