Friday, July 29th, 2011Massachusetts is on pace to create 84,000 new jobs this year — up from just 38,000 last year, according to an economic forecast provided to the Herald. And salaries should rise 3.2 percent this year and 3.6 percent in 2012. The Bay State economy is expected to grow 2.9 percent this year and 2.8 percent next year, according to economists’ predictions — slowing from last year’s heady 3.4 percent growth rate, but still expanding at a healthy clip. New Hampshire Business Review: N.H. home sales fall again in June
Monday, July 25th, 2011There was yet another year-over-over decline in home sales and prices in June — the last decline that can be blamed on the sales peak fueled by last year’s stimulus tax break, according to the New Hampshire Association of Realtors. Home sales declined 13.6 percent statewide and prices fell by 4.3 percent to 220,000 compared to June 2010, the last month it was possible for first-time homebuyers to close a deal in order to earn an $8,000 tax credit. Friday, July 22nd, 2011The number of jobs in the Norwich/New London labor market area rose by 1,100 to 129,000 in June compared with May, the Connecticut Department of Labor said in its monthly jobs report. Willimantic/Danielson, which is the labor market for Windham County, rose by 600 jobs to 36,300 in June from May. Willimantic/Danielson was the third strongest market over that span. Friday, July 22nd, 2011Two of the hardest-hit industries during the past recession were among the strongest providers of job growth in Massachusetts last month, according to new figures released by the state. The Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development reported Thursday that the state added an estimated 10,400 jobs in June.
