Boston Herald : Number of Bay State Biotech Jobs Grew 4 Percent Last Year

Massachusetts biotech companies employed 48,000 people last year, paid $4.6 billion in payroll, and took in a record amount of venture capital, according to a report by industry group MassBio. The industry saw 3.9 percent employment growth in 2010 after having just 1 percent growth in 2009, and paid an average salary of $96,000 in 2010.
