Jobs for New England Now: Core Principles

Jobs for New England Now is a coalition of citizens, businesses, pro-business groups and non-profit organizations determined to encourage economic growth and prosperity for communities across the greater New England region. For too long, New England has been burdened by an anti-business mentality. Our coalition believes that now is the time for urgent action to reverse that downward trend, and aims to persuade policymakers that pro-jobs measures will lead to greater investment and the creation of more jobs.

Anti-growth measures make Northeastern states less competitive with other states not facing similar budget shortfalls. The rhetoric and actions of policymakers can promote a hostile impression of the community and have an impact on how new businesses perceive the region. Instead of deterring potential investors in hyper-litigious environment and red tape, now is the time to implement programs and policies that will attract new jobs and investment.

As such, Jobs for New England Now will:

  • Encourage policymakers to look at how new measures will impact the economic vitality of the region;
  • Highlight important studies and new trends in an effort to educate the public on and motivate policymakers to address issues that impact business and job growth across New England;
  • Stand against policies that will impede economic development and future business investments in the region; and
  • Collaborate with state agencies, local governments and policymakers to focus on job creation and providing new opportunities for New England residents.

It is imperative for New England officials to consider the short-term and long-term impacts of how policy changes will affect business and job growth in the region. Jobs for New England Now will hold policymakers accountable for decisions they make by determining whether their policies create jobs, protect jobs, or drive them elsewhere.

Jobs for New England Now encourages businesses, non-profit organizations and residents tired of seeing employers flee the Northeastern states to join our coalition in the fight to retain jobs and promote economic growth.
